The best thing to do, when you find yourself staring at a blank screen is to turn it off, then go outside and play. Read a book under a tree. Watch a sunset. Paint a picture.
A close second is to start writing something. It might not make a lot of sense, but it will take care of nascent writer’s block, and once the words are flowing who knows where they might take you.
So, to begin at the beginning.
As you’ll have gathered from the website my name’s Alex, and I’m currently an MA Student in Fine Art. There’s a long, complex and occasionally tragic story as to how I got here, and at some point I’ll give a hilarious and occasionally accurate account of it. Not now of course. I need to save something for my second post.
I study art through the medium of photography, lacking as I do even the most rudimentary talent for painting, drawing or sculpture. I’ve worked in digital formats for the last few years, and I’ve just recently made a triumphant(ish) return to film. Some of my favorite pictures can be seen in the gallery section of my site, and I’ll be posting and talking about some of them here as well. You’ll also get to see what I’m working on at the moment. This may or may not be interspersed with long for essays on the photographer’s art and the things you can run across when pursuing it (if you’re not careful).
You can also find a few details about my life outside of photography, insofar as I have one. There’s some writing, and some theatre also.
